Question about 800 Fighting Englishmen

Just wondering if anyone who has played these rules could answer a question for me. Whats the smallest sized force you would give a player for an interesting game? Would a Brigade of 2 or 3 battalions be ok? I want to run a game at my club with about 2-3 players per side and so i want to plan for the minimum amount of units to do it.

That would be reasonable and shouldn't be enough to bog the game down for new players.
