Another Great Day at GHQ

Well, a long time has passed since I last had the pleasure of a visit, but last week we managed to get together again.
Dave said that there would be two games for Phil and I, a War of 1812 and a Pulp.

I had recently been a visitor to both Canada and the USA and they kindly put my lack of finesse down to jetlag, I put it down to the trauma of spending time as a front-seat passenger in a NYC yellow cab, better than any Disney Ride.

Here I am in the custody of the 1812 Homeland Security detail.



Fairplay to Canada, they take goverment sponsored historical re-enactmants to a new level......

Anyway, to the games:





A Black Powder game, where I was to defend the two redoubts on the left, while Phil's Americans had to capture them.  Not difficult, you might think, but in my tired state I decided to attack.  Not a great idea and, quite rightly , Phil gave me a quite heavy pasting, as seen below:





In the long run, however:



The second game was a spin on hunt the lady, where both gangs had to find and escort Queen Victoria. Rules where Astounding Tales, a truly versatile set of rules usable from 1750 through to 2050, take a look.

Phil was Moriarty with his collection of ne'erdowells:



I was Sherlock Holmes with some fine upstanding chaps:

Dave was quite exasperated by how long it took us to find her and, for a time, the game resorted to us trading shots. Eventually she was found and there was some rushing and nip and tucking.  A very close game, but the good guys finally got her to waddle sedately off my side.

So, one game each......
