I need to fix up my Mexican buildings as they've taken some battle damage so I think I will "borrow" some of your ideas.

Your buildings are very nice. The level of detail is outstanding. I am very interested in learning how to make hinged doors like yours. Would you please describe the process you use to make them? I can sort of guess, but I always do better with detailed instructions. I bought some fine wire and some small straight beads, so I'm almost ready to go. Thanks.

No, it was made out of free fantasy. There was a couple of things I was sure I wanted though. First the outside stairs, second the backyard and third the shed and the outhouse. All three things add to realism and environment in my oppinion.

Ok, i'll try:

1. First I find some 1mm thick wire (brass og stainless steel will both do)

2. Then I have purchased some brass tubing in which the wire can fit.

3. I cut 2 pieces of brass-tubing. Each 3-4 mm long.

4. the I cut 2 pieces of the wire 7-8mm long, and bend these in a 90 degree angle.

5. I the drill holes in the doorpost, and insert the angled wires in these holes, and glue them into place with superglue. It is important that this is done before the doorpost is glued in place. Otherwise you will not be able to put the door on the hinges. The door MUST be hinged before the doorpost is glued in place.

6. I then make 2 cutouts on the back of the door in which the 2 tubes will fit. I mesure this by fitting the brasstubes onto the wires, and mesure where to cut on the door.

7. Then I glue the brasstubes into place while these are still placed on the wires. This is where you have to be cautious not to glue the hinge itself together (you door will not work very well then).

Thanks for the tutorial. I appreciate you taking the time to help me like this.    Your excellent buildings got me motivated to finish up some projects, too. I especially want to try this hinging method. It's cool.

Do you have a close up photo of the cut out on the back of the door for the tubes?

Thank you!  So the brass pins you use for the hinges are centered on the door frame and the indent on the door is to seat the brass tubes so the door lines up correctly?

Would it be possible to see a drawing of some of your building plans, if you have any. I love building model railroad buildings in HO scale but have never tried it for 28mm figures. Buying resin western buildings just rubs the modeler in me the wrong way! I would love to know your measurements of walls, windows, doors, and so on.

Or, if you get a chance, maybe take some side photos of a building with a ruler next to it. As long as you don't take the photo on an angle, we can work out our own dimensions. BTW I used to do this with real buildings I wanted to build.

BTW how long does it take you to make a typical building?
