Photos of my Splintered Light Hares
« on: 17 September 2013, 09:02:51 PM »
Well, I finally finished my Splintered Light sword and spear hares that I started ages ago and got around to taking some photos of them this afternoon. You can check out all the photos and what I was trying to achieve at my blog. Like I tell everyone, these are fantastic figures and rank at the top of my favorite list. I hope you like what I've done with them.

BTW it's taken me a while to photograph them because, as I explain at my blog, I've been having a lot of back problems that has been making my life rather painful. Several weeks of PT has been helping. Though bending over to take photos today and then sitting at the computer hasn't helped!  ;)

Ooh, super-nice reds.  I've had some fun with Splintered Light minis as well.

Yes, the reds are great.  I also like the heads a lot, they somehow remind me of old porcelain figures - Whimseys?

Very neat.

The red jackets work very well and the grass is great!

Lovely and inspiring stuff. A 'Redwall' project using SL minis is on my to-do list.

Glad you like them!

You know, I never thought about that until you mentioned it. They do have a kind of resemblance to those little figures.

Believe it or not, the reds are craft paints. I'll have to look for my paint lists to see what colors and company. I used orange for highlights. All the paints except the metals (those are P3 if I remember correctly) are craft paints.

They are COOL Little Critters! You did a FINE bit of brushwork & basing bringing them to life. VERY WELL DONE!

I'm a craft paint user (Americana, Folk Art, Ceramcoat, & some ancient Accent). While price is a factor, I've found them to be equal if not superior to most hobby acrylics...you don't always get what you pay for.

I'd believe it. My buddy is a multiple Golden Demon and Slayer Sword winner and all he ever uses is craft paints.

The minis and basing look great by the way! I've always enjoyed the Splintered Light stuff.

Sorry for the delay on replying!

I'm not sure what rules I'll use. I have some homebrew rules I might use. As always, I put buying the miniatures ahead of buying the rules! A 50% off SLM sale a few years ago helped as well.  lol

Missed these when you first put them up.  Really nice work. I have a real soft spot for sentient animal figures and these look better than my 28mm animals!

They turned out much better than mine - excellent paint jobs there, and the good selection if colours makes them really pop.
