The Dice of Mordor
« on: 03 January 2014, 02:38:54 PM »

So recently I rediscovered these dice in my dice collection, and decided they were the perfect dice to roll for baddies in my Lord of the Rings SBG. Unfortunately, I've only got the two of them (when one or two more would be perfect). More unfortunately, I don't know much about them.

I have a thought that they might come from The Lord of the Rings collectible card game which was out in the nineties. Can anyone confirm that? Were there any corresponding 'good guy' dice made? Anybody know where I might find another set for sale?

 These dice came with the Lord of the Rings pre-painted miniatures which were on hex bases.I have quite a few of them hidden away as will my son.The figures are larger than the GW one's.

Are you sure? Every picture I can find which claims to be Sabertooth Dice (not many, I will grant), seem to show the same design as the ones used by Games Workshop shop - These have a different Eye of Sauron which is in a circle and not flaming.

Sabertooth games was he company that made the prepainted plastic on hex bases.

I've got the balrog, which has his very own dice:

However, the ones that come with reular miniatures are different from the ones you have showed:

It took me some google searching. It seems to be these dice:

OOP of course  ::)

There is plenty of good duy dice and other Mordor/Sauron dice if you search Ebay or google for LOTR dice and similar searches.

I think GW also made some of these dice, they were in tins that were pretty affordable at the time, and have since become hard to find.

I kind of wish I had some Mordor dice! (anyone? anyone? )

Games Workshop did make some similar ones, but not these.

You can usually find the GW ones on ebay.
