Questions about AEWW2

Hi all, I finally broke out my AEWW2 rules and have had some games. I really like it for small scale skirmish stuff and will be adapting it for use in other genres soon. But before I go much further a few questions...

1, the Soviet attack dogs mention they are fitted with explosives that they can detonate but there is no mention of the size or damage of the explosions, is it like a Grenade (hardly enough to crack a tank) or more like a bazooka?

2, With the list building (the one part of the rules I don't like, what was wrong with using points?) It mentions that with specific characters you get more of a type of unit (Mechanic gives you more Tesla stuff) is that a new unit on top of the ones available to you or does it just allow you to take a normal unit and replace it with another weird unit (the book says at least half of most forces must be regular soldier types) thus exceeding the limit?

Im sure the further I go the more questions I will find, but that's it for now.

Let me dredge up the clarifications from the errata and 2nd ed:

For example, extra units from hero choices:

"The presence of a Technician allows an additional Green Tesla Device selection to be taken when determining detachment composition. This is above and beyond any normally allowed by other models (such as a Mechanic), as well as above the normal number of selections of a detachment composition (essentially allowing a free Green selection). This selection is compulsory and cannot be exchanged."

This is then similar for Chuman parent, Scientist etc.

And for AT dogs:

After the bit about AT dogs can self destruct at any time during the dogs activation as long as it does not sprint or charge "This does not require an AP and all models within one and half inches of the dog suffer a S6+2d6 hit"

Thanks for the help, I thought it was an additional unit choice but it was a bit vague so I wanted to make sure. As for the explosion I read the rules lots of times and must have missed that bit, I will quadrupal check tonight.
