Barbarian King / Warlord on Shield
« on: 12 March 2014, 02:39:30 PM »
Chaps,
I'm looking for a 28mm ancient german warlord or king standing on a shield held by bearers - a la Vitalstatistix

Does anyone know of such a figure?

Fantasy wise may be way to go, Blacktree design have a very Slaine looking one, similarly so do Brigade Models in their Celtos Gael range, the latter may be better and less fantasy but you would need to swap out the king on top ;D

I am sure there used to be someone else who did one hisotrically but cant think of one at moment

this Grenadier Warchief model could work. Just swap the body builders against proper Germans.

Cheers for that - I knew there were a couple out there - the AA one does look the best, a little like the statue of Hermann. I might try modifying some of the WF German Warband and see if I can get them into the correct pose for the shield bearers.

Not exactly Germanic nor standing upright and sadly unavailable at present, but perhaps you might try to get this one directly from Wargames Foundry:

Do it yourself !  ;D

Find some  accurate poses in german foot soldier like Foundry javelinmen..... o_o

The most difficult is to find the leader to stand on : sword or hand raised (like a follow me attitude), crossed arms (like the warlord bodyguard of their roman civilian pack), pointing a direction, etc......

Frenchy Eric, aka Ch'ti Eric or Re-Animator

Exactly my friend !

i habe the BTD barbarian set but the guy on the shield is not very "mighty Leader" style !
he seem to wait at the bus stop  :P  after a long work day...

For an ancient german leader, even if the practice is not very historical in battle (excep the Franks for the chief/king election) , we need a guy more ferocious/savage !

 isn't it ?
