Help in identifying Late Napolonic style uniform?
« on: 31 March 2014, 06:07:23 PM »
This is a lithograph of European volunteers who served in Greece in1822 many wore civilian dress but some wore their old uniforms from the Napoleonic era.

Can anyone identify the uniformed fig 3rd from right wearing shako.........?

Hmm,

Round/bell shako with front feather (Spanish usually have bicorns), double breasted jacket with epoulettes but no frogging (rules out Hussars), high fronted boots (possibly cavalry), curved sabre (possibly cavalry).

I'd say French Horse Chasseur Officer.  Mid-green jacket with yellow facing, white crossbelts.

I'd say he's a light infantry officer after the French style (even with the white pants) but it's hard to say exactly. Colour would help!

But as you mentioned many wore old uniforms and I'm guessing a mix of whatever they could get.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.
