Some Colombian Oddities
« on: April 12, 2014, 12:07:14 PM »
Last November, I was fortunate enough to wander around  the Museo Militar in Bogota. They have some oddities in their collection I thought I would share. See if you can guess what they are.

Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Again not interwar but possibly Colonial Spain's answer to the Swiss Army knife:

That hatchet pistol sure has an interesting look to it. How about that barrel?

Thanks for posting.

No idea what any of it really is ;)

No. 3 appears to be a M20 Scout Car under all the bodywork, with added turret.
No. 2 is some form of local rig for two Madsens?
No.1 is a puzzler though, it looks a bit like a Soviet M-1930 37mm A-T gun carriage... the gun? A naval piece? Hotchkiss 3pdr (47mm)? Or maybe a Vickers-Armstrong 3pdr?

Nice pics though, thanks for sharing them.  :)

Correct answer for No2. It's a twin Madsen set up for ant-aircraft work.

Near enough for No3, it's actually an M-8 Greyhound, converted in 1993 by one of the Colombian Army's MP battalions as an anti-mining point vehicle for road convoys. Like a lot of places with long running insurgencies, Colombia has and will have for decades a big problem with landmines. Here's another photo.

Getting warm on No1. Definitely pre-war and yes, Eastern European. Here's another view. The sharp eyed amngst you might even be able to read the little brass plaque attched.

Skoda 4.7 cm infantry gun. Jim got two out of three so he wins the prize.
