A question about USE ME cross compatibility(?)
« on: 16 May 2014, 03:27:54 PM »
Hello all.

(Long time lurker, first time poster, heh.)

It seems to me that I've seen the USE ME 15mm rules suggested from time to time and I've finally decided to check them out.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the books are designed to allow you to use the different genres together.

-> Really I guess what I mean is it makes use of a "point costs" and are they balanced in a way that would allow you to combine say the ScFi rules with stuff from the Post-apocalyptic and/or Fantasy books.

*I put this under SciFi as that's my primary focus for the rules, and I couldn't decided where else it could go, if it needs to be moved then please by all means.

Thanks for any info or opinions anyone wants to share on this.

Cheers~

I only have the ww2 book, but i think the special period rules and all that can be carried over .

However since the game uses dice modifiers for penetration and the like, you'll have to tinker a bit if you want to use armour and weapons across supplements.

All in all the rules are very simple, and allow for a great deal of modification to make it suit you if that's what you're looking for.

And if you buy the pdf's, you won't burn your wallet if you don't like it  ;)

Hi Peter'

Thanks for the feedback.

So it sounds like it will probably all work well enough for what I want. I didn't mind doing a bit of rules blending along the lines of ww2 no armor, fantasy/scifi yes armor, as long as things look to be pointed up well relative to each other.

So that if SciFi lacks "flamers" but I can port them over reasonably well from the Post-Apoc book.

But you do bring up a good point with the pdfs.

Generally I won't really get much use out of rules not in Print but that doesn't mean that I can't get the couple of books in print I am very confident I'll be using and then get the other stuff in pdf just to grab a few things from.

Good idea so that seems to be the way to go.  ;)

Thanks again!

p.s. once I've gotten them and had a chance to look things over, if anyone is interested in compatibility between the books I can update the thread with my take on it, heh. :D
