WW1 American Paint Guides
« on: July 18, 2008, 07:12:52 PM »
Does anyone have any specific recommendations for painting AEF uniforms and the marine forest green?  Also, were the AEF and British Drabs pretty much the same color? If so, I could use the paint suggestions for the Brits from the Great War rulebooks for my Americans as well...

Thanks

AX

If you haven't already seen this link then this may assist you:

US Marines I paint using a dark green from Vellejo. I'd use for standard US and later marines a combination of US Drab with Iraqi sand as a base colour. You may try the same with British uniform and US Drab and see the results first before applying a lighter colour.

I'd then apply a lighter shade of the Iraqi sand colour.

The reason I say this is because I use this application in the commencement of painting my later Sikhs. The colour looks right for US Army and later marines.

Chow!
Best wishes,
Helen

Thanks for the info. I will try some experiments and post the results if they turn out well.
