I picked this up one with the other bones minis. I have probably painted this model 3 or 4 times before, but this is the first time with a bones mini. The arms were really bendy but the detail in the scales and face was still good. It was painted in washes and glazes like the last few. The trick for the body was to paint the skin in a wash of light pink magena ink over the white primer, and then wash and glaze down with Cerulean Blue ink, highlighting with very light blue and white. The scales had a base coat of Cerulean Blue, then a glaze of Dioxazene Purple ink, very careful edge drybrushing with white to highlight the scales, then glazing some stripes with Turquoise ink and re-highlighting a bit. The belly had a very light glaze of Cerulean Blue ink, then a light glaze of black paint + blue ink. The edge highlights for the belly scales were painted with white with the tip of the brush. I just wanted this one to be quick, so most things are very simple base -> shadow wash -> highlight, but the idea is to use contrasting colors for the washes and base coats. All in all, a fun experiment with the bones mini that turned out to a pretty good quality, I think.
