small painting competition for lancer
« on: 12 September 2014, 08:54:46 AM »
Dear customers, A friend and customer  (no names no pack drill) came up with the brilliant idea of a painting competition for my new Orc range, It will be a single figures doesn’t have to be a character can just be a grunt, or a 20 figure unit, And the prizes will be a £5 voucher for the single figure, and for the unit of 20 the prize is a voucher for £26.95, now these vouchers can be used at my website lancerminiatures.com for any items I list, so if you fancy some 20mm tanks or 28mm lizards or even more orcs choice is yours.
You will have the honour of having your pictures used by my website, and plastered everywhere, and if it’s ok with you will mention your name or handle in praise of the artwork.
Most of you are friends with me through facebook, so that is where I will be running it from, so you send your pictures to me at Lancer or tag me into them  and they will go in  for the great drawer on 6th December.
The judges are myself, and a good friend I game against who is one good painter himself, (no he can’t play), and if it’s a tie Julie my partner will have the final decision, Our decision will be final so no throwing toys out of prams.
So start your brushes.
All the best Kieven / Julie
PS  this is only for lancer miniatures Orcs.
And sorry it was so long winded

Are you spamming every wargaming website with this half bothered snow job? Buy some minis paint them up for you to use for advertising and then if you are really lucky maybe recover the price of the miniatures?

This site showcases some brilliant painters, some of them professional or semi professional. Here's a brilliant idea: Commission one to paint your miniatures for your website and pay them a fair amount.

I think you are coming off a bit harsh there.  I don't think anyone is ignorant to the fact that many companies use painting competitions as a way to get photos of painted miniatures for their website.  If you don't agree with the method, just don't participate.  Judging by the price point of Lancer's product, I doubt he is doing this to try to turn a tidy profit and more as a hobby.  As in all things, he will get what he pays for in terms of photos of painted miniatures.

Honestly, this is the kind of attitude I come to LAF to avoid, not to read.  If you can't say anything nice...  ::)

Sorry if I have offended you in such a big way Carlos. I have commissioned a painter to paint all my Orcs  for my own army, as my painting isn't good enough, so I have no problem paying for what I want. The idea of the painting competition is yes to promote my new range as I am a new kid on the block with fantasy figures, I am mainly known for WW2. Its a very tough market to get into, and if my products don't sell then no new ones can be brought out and the range just vanishes. The kickstart helped me into this I have not made any money from the kickstart in fact I lost about a £900 mainly because I don't charge ridiculous prices, and figured if you are helping me bring out a new range you will get a product at a very good discount, the only time I will start making money is now because luckily for me there is lots of people who like my Orcs and want to buy them.
Final point I work a 47hr week for a company, I come home and spend every minute I am awake on this business, I want it to succeed.
Thankyou for the support from people I haven't offended.
Regards Kieven

Seeing as I participated in the kickstarter and will be painting them at some point or another I'll give it a go I reckon.

Yup that.

Same for me.

Bit more support won't do any harm. Not as if we are talking large scale corporate manipulation here.

Or are we? o_o

Muhahahahahhhh....
