Help with an Infinity mini id??
« on: 19 September 2014, 11:41:47 PM »
Hi Guys,

Just got a nice lot of Infinity minis (Thanks Mate!) and I'm not sure who this guy is.  Cant seem to find him anywhere...  And then I knew you gents would be the place to come for the answer. Any ideas?

Cheers!

Are the colors in Infinity set like Space Marine chapters, or is there lots of room for artistic interpretation? I was seeing this guy in turquoise and tan...  Or maybe turquoise and red, but mostly red.

There are no set colour schemes.

Generally, the studio schemes are to "ground" each faction and subfaction within their background, (so Haqq have sandy colours, usually have green in their scheme, and are on desert bases for example). I guess it might look a bit odd if for example you paint troops from a world with a mostly Arctic climate in hot oranges and mount them on sandy bases!

However, there are no mandatory colour schemes like GW Space Marine Chapters or such. If you see them in turquoise and tan, then go for it. In fact, I think the old Tuareg models had a similar scheme:

Thanks for all your help Mate!  I've been trying to find some background info and general info on the different clans.  I have a basic idea of what each one is about, but some seem a bit similar to each other.  A couple are quite radically different.

Each faction has a number of Sectorial forces (sub-factions if you will).

For Haqqislam, these are:

  • Qapu Khalqi, the Sultanate
  • Hassassin Bahram, the Shahnate
  • (Unnamed), the Kahnate
  • (Unnamed), the Caliphate

The game is designed so that you can play a mixture of troops from a faction. If you limit yourself to troops from just one Sectorial within a faction, you get other benefits to compensate (for example, increased availability of rarer troop types associated with that subfaction). Each Sectorial also has a specific take on an aspect of the parent faction, so they can add quite a bit of variety to just playing with a general mixed list.

The first two named Sectorials are out already, and the next two are due in the Acheron Falls book coming after the 3rd Edition rule book.

The Haqq background is quite well summarised here. Qapu Khalqi is summarised here, and Hassassin Bahram here.

Just paint them up however you like them. Personally I will probably end up pretty close to the studio scheme for Nomads as I really like the red and black. My Haqqislam I plan to paint with more sandy tones and less green than the studio scheme.
