Finding door mats for fields
« on: 11 February 2015, 03:41:29 PM »
I ALWAYS see folks using doormats for fields, but I can NEVER find them.

I'm talking about these mats as fields

My google-fu has failed me for far too long...

Here is my plea: Can someone point me in the direction of these online with a link that I can click and buy one?  Amazon preferred, or any other US source would be great.

Thanks for any help!!

If you have chinese shops close to you do try there.
Usually they have and cheap. There is also a lot of stuff you can find there usefull for wargames like aquarium plants and scenery.

You might also try a carpet store for off cuts or sample books.

Door mats are useful for corn fields, are rubber backed, and about the right size to cut up to make a few fields - you can actually buy it by the meter on ebay. Here is some I've got (I painted the green piece with cheap acrylic - I'm not sure it ever comes that colour).

Been looking for coir matting myself to use as fields, there is plenty about but the colour is always rather dark. The colour in the picture is the paler golden colour i've been looking for but cannot find (unless it has print or patterning on it).

I'm wondering though fergal is it coir matting you are after to produce a field, or is it the matting in the foreground that's being used to represent ploughed fields?

My problem with this is that everyone seems to have someplace they get theirs or suggests some place to look or find them.

But I'd really like an actual link where I can find them.  I've asked this question on boards a few times and the responses usually suggest looking somewhere (and I do) or say they find them really cheap locally at X store.

If anyone knows where to buy these things online, I'd really appreciate a link.

Thanks!

No worries, I'm in the USA.  We'll see how much better my googling is not that I've got this new info.  I'm just at work with not much time to fiddle at the moment. :)
