Jungle Hunt Play Aids
« on: March 12, 2009, 02:57:29 AM »
I've been doing a lot of Lost World related painting and terrain building lately, all building toward (among other things) a blowout .45 Adventures game at the local club involving hunting parties out looking for mysterious things that probably hunt back!

I have a few sheets of letter-sized business card stock (the prepunched Avery stuff) sitting around, and decided to do some encounter cards with them.

The first sheet is what I'm calling the "Tension & Events" sheet - mostly "No Encounter" cards, but with flavour to keep the players twitchy!

I've got a PDF available here (link) for printing, and also a huge full-sized PNG image (link) as well. Note that both the PDF and the full-sized image have the grid lines that're visible in the small version above turned off - and note also they're BIG files, both about 1Mb!

Note for non-North Americans: Sorry, these are designed for letter-sized paper (8.5x11 inches) and North American business cards (2x3.5 inches), like Avery sell (link). I've no idea how they'll fit on A4 and no access to actual A4 stock to test!

The next sheet will have a few more "Nothing Happens (Yet)" cards, and I'll start getting into the actual beasties that might be encountered!

As always, comments/suggestions/ideas are welcome!

Hey... that's nicely done! :) Hope the next cards include the drums in the distance!  :D

Thanks for the ideas Wirelizard.  Excellent timing!  I've been making jungle/lost world terrain for a couple of weeks now preping for our next Dino Hunt pulp game.

I'm thinking of using a 3-way mix myself.  1/3 neutral, like your "Tension & Events", 1/3 benign (first aid kit, good for one use, etc.), and 1/3 bay news (quicksand, your staning on a nest of fire ants all the way up to Big Bad Boo jumps you!).

Thanks for sharing your efforts!  Looking forward to seeing more!

The drums in the distance! How could I forget the drums? I'll include them on the next sheet!

The second sheet is mostly done, and it's mostly dinosaurs - that being what our Lost World is mostly populated by. I'm leaving them fairly generic, at some cost in colour text - easily adaptable to whatever mix if really big lizards other people happen to have.

I might include a set of Neanderthal/other intelligent life encounter cards, too, but that might wait until Sheet #3.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say
