the skin was done with several layers of shading and highlighting using Armypainter paints and shades (brown, reds, purple and green)

Thanks, so you need a good different mixture of colouring. I'm struggling with a dwarf face myself now, that's why I'm asking ( only recently picked up painting after a break of almost a decade, so I'm a bit rusty  :'( ).
But, as said before, your Dwarfs are really inspiring over here...
