Frostgrave charity bundle for Poppy's Angels
« on: 08 December 2015, 09:49:37 AM »
Hello! I hope it's ok to post this here, seemed the best place for most people who'd be interested to see it.

I'm one of the Iron Man Charity Paint-a-thon organisers, so each year we paint some toys over a 24 hour period (12noon til 12noon) with plenty of coffee. We then auction them off, will all the funds (all the money, not the profit like some) going straight to a charity.

This year I managed to convince the team FROSTGRAVE FROSTGRAVE FROSTGRAVE.

So we painted up two warbands in this time. As well as this, Great Escape Games donated a Fabled Realms building from 4ground, North Star the book, and The Dice Bag Lady the figures, spellcards, bag and treasure gems.

As well as this, we got Osprey Joe to sign the book - wahey!

So the auction is a perfect two player starter kit.

Where is the money going? Poppy’s Angels was set up by Paul Bullock when he discovered his young daughter had cancer in 2014. Since then, funds have been raised by the wargaming community, who have really come together to help “one of our own” via a number of charity raffles, auctions and events. The amazing news is that during this time, Poppy has been declared cancer free, but of course that is not the end of the battle, and there are further scans and tests along the way. The money will be helping the family get out of debt and work to regaining a normal life and childhood for Poppy. Paul, and his excellent assistants, Chris Duchesne and Stuart Tomlinson are currently working to turn this into a registered charity to help support families affected by childhood cancer. Annamaria Ong, another brave and super cool lady (12 years old, daughter of Szen Ong, fellow “Poppy’s Angel”), will be the first to receive this great assistance, and the start of many more.

So plugging aside, perhaps you'd like to look at the warbands, and maybe even bid! There are better pictures/close ups in the link, I'm just rushed for time to drag them all over!

Also Mike Hobbs of Meeples and Miniatures Podcast painted up two Otherworld warbands, and the auction for that contains all the gizmos (books, cards, tokens etc), all kindly donated by Otherworld Miniatures. It is too a great game, and you can use a lot of figures crossed over from Frostgrave.

So thanks to the people who took part - Three of us painted the warbands, but a few others turned up to paint their own things over the 24 hours (it was either you collect sponsorship and paint your own bits, or paint something to auction), and all the companies who dug in to donate the items, and Joe for signing the book like a superstar.

We've reached a good amount on both items already, but as usual, trying to plug around the net as much as possible so people even see it, so if you could share to your own local groups or with people who'd be interested, that would be much appreciated.

More information on Iron Man here, as well as pictures of us looking knackered painting it all... here's a 4am taster.

Amazing, thanks all! I was super anxious that they'd sit at £20 or something! Should have a good last minute fight Sunday night too, I'll grab my popcorn!

Thanks so much everyone who bid! It went a bit wild last minute and we ended up raising just under £500, with an additional £80 from the painting marathon sponsors.

Also, we told Otherworld last night, and they were so impressed they're going to send EVEN MORE STUFF to the person who won as a thanks for bidding so high. Thanks everyone else who donated stuff too, and Osprey Joe for signing the Frostgrave book,

Cheers
Annie

Question:  How do the Otherworld Miniatures knight and cleric scale with the plastic Frostgrave soldiers?

While I do not have the means myself to bid, I think endeavours like these are wonderful! It is great that you put out the effort, and it is great people respond with enthusiasm.
