En Garde! New England Frontier
« on: 12 July 2016, 12:54:35 PM »
A four player game of En Garde! French and Indians vs. English Colonists.  This was our first game and I think all of us enjoyed it. I'm very eager to play it again. http://fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2016/07/1st-game-of-en-garde.html

We tried the rules for a three way Pirate game and like you were quite impressed.
Musket fire seems awfully lethal, though. Even high ranking characters can be dropped quite easily.
We might tinker a bit with that as we really want lots of cutlasses and such, not sharpshooters.

Game two of En Garde! we used a hut for treasure tokens inspired by Frostgrave this time, mostly just and exercises to learn the rules.  Frank and I ran French soldiers, Mike had Pirates and Dave run an army of Puritans and "Praying Indians" http://fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2016/07/en-garde-game-two.html

My group has suggested dropping the number of musket armed troops from 50% to 25%.  We have also considered making dodge apply to all missile weapons not just those that don't use black powder.

I think allowing dodge vs muskets and pistols would go a long way to addressing the problem.
It's a shame to have your best characters shot down at a distance (realistic, probably, but a shame for the game).

Does anyone else have the very nice token set for En Garde done by Warbases? It has tokens for stunned. light wound, grievous wound, aim, reload, resting, hidden, and warband status. It has Attack and Defence tokens for the swordfighting stuff.
It also has lots of tokens with 'Spent' on them. Can't find 'Spent' anywhere in the rules.
Does anyone know what those are for?

Actually I didn't know about these... they would be cool to have.
