Welcome to the LAF.  I am sure you will be able to get some great inspiration from the various boards.  Whereabouts in Dorset are you?

Welcome from an ex-Dorsetonian  :)

There are quite a lot of gamers in the Poole/Bournemouth area though I think they tend to game at home or at conventions.

FOW seems popular as does SAGA.

Not sure if the Purbeck Brotherhood of Ancients (aka Iain Dickie of Miniature Wargames fame) is still going but I can ask around some of my old friend there if you want.

There is BEACHHEAD 20th Feb in Bournemouth which I believe is at the BIC centre.

Thanks Mindenbrush/Alex

I game with a group of friends and ex work colleagues. Current flavour of gaming is War of the Roses and Napoleonic using tweaked Hail Caesar and Black Powder respectively... There are also ongoing projects of Vietnam (1/200) WWII(20mm) WWI (12mm) Modern (1/56) Various band for SAGA(28mm).  Never going to get bored  :D

Yes Beachhead is at the BIC...a new show for the area at a decent (but I suspect costly) venue.  Looking forward to that...a chance to support a new local trader who is putting a lot of effort into the local gaming community.

How is the scene in Quebec?.  I was in Niagara on the Lake during the bicentennial celebrations and was very impressed by the reconstruction of Fort George, at the time populated by a corps of very well drilled and equipped living history re-enactors

Regards

Phil
