I need a fat dwarf
« on: 01 February 2016, 04:17:14 PM »
Probably a strange sort of request, but I figured it is worth a try before I pull out the Green Stuff.

For an RPG group, I am in need for a fat to obese dwarf, preferably in some form of armor, carrying an axe or hammer.  I saw a few possibilities at Scibor, but thought I would run it by the LAF hive-mind to see what miniature companies I am forgetting about.

Thanks in advance!

You might consider Scibor's Dwarfs...they tend to be a bit on the rotund side. The War Store has them at discount prices:

There's a fat dwarf by Foundry, but he is in Renaissance clothing. He is pretty damn rotund though.

Don't we all, AzSteven. I mean....um, how fat exactly? Simply stout, or on the obese side? I think you suggest in your post that it's the latter, in which case....

Reaper have a few. Olaf Gunderson, Dwarf Gambler, definitely has a belly on him, although he looks like something from a western, only with dwarves. Nice, but probably not what you're after. (actually, I took a closer look at him, and he does in fact have a holstered six-shooter!) Kragmarr Pummeler has a good belly, but I wouldn't call him obese. Boren Backslap is stouter than your average Dwarf, and is a lovely miniature, but it's furs and so on, rather than armour. Your best bet might be Gerrin Greystone. The stoutest Reaper dwarf I could find - he has a good belly, scale armour, and an axe  and shield. Overall, a very nice miniature. Is it strange that I'm slightly disappointed that there aren't more stout dwarves in the Reaper line?

Scibor, as already suggested, but scibor could be way bigger, than most GW-dwarfs, for comparison.

Westwind has some stouties, too, check their heroes. But they too are somewhat bigger in scale than usual.

Another idea might be to check for some halflings. They tend to be sculpted "fat", so with some a beard added might do the trick, since You mentioned sculptin Yourself, a beard should be no problem.
Quite a while ago I painted some sort of pirate halflings, which were really fat, but couldn't remember their manufacturer.
best wishes

What about Bombur from the Hobbit from Games Workshop?

You might find one cheaper on eBay without having to buy his two mates

Like already mentioned, Foundry had those renaissance dwarves which were rather portly, to put it kindly. But their Norse Dwarfs had a couple fat 'uns too. Don't know if they're available anymore, probably not if they havent made a comeback? With Foundry, you never know
