Tabletop Design

Hey guys,

I recently built a 4x6 table for my geek room. Its nothing fancy, just a sheet of plywood with strapping around the perimeter to prevent bowing and to re-enforce the table.

I'd like to have some design on the surface of the table just for S**ts and Giggles as they say. But I really don't know much about stenciling or where to start. My free hand is not the greatest on 28mm so on a table this big i'd be better off giving my 7 year old a paint brush.

Anyone done anything like this before or have any suggestions?

Go with the age old trick of using a lit projector to put a design on it, and paint around it.  (the projectors like you used to see in school - with the printed acrylic sheets which would project on the board etc.).  Easy way if you have a design you really like and want to put on there.

A wee artist trick. If you find a design you like draw a grid over it. Then to make it on to your table draw a bigger version of the grid on your table and take your time and fill in one grid square at a time. It's a lot easier if you do it bit at a time. By the time your finished filling in each square separately, your done. Then just rub out the grid.
