A bit of mercenary terraforming
« on: 17 April 2016, 09:42:07 AM »
Recently a mate expressed a desire for some wargaming terrain, while lamenting his lack of skill and materials for such. Around the same time I expressed my desire to use some of my skills and materials that were lying dormant, while lamenting my lack of hobby budget. Soon a mutually beneficial arrangement emerged...  ;)
After a bit of back and forth we settled on a trio of rocky hills and a stone circle. As I've made delivery yesterday I can now show the pictures off to the world:

Step one, bases and XPS foam:

Foamhenge emerges:

Filler, grit and dirt "Goop" slathered on and dried, bark and foam have their protective PVA & paint sealant:

Paint is on:

And the final product, flocked and ready for delivery:

Turned out nice! What's that you used for bases?

Thanks guys!
We were both quite happy with the final product. I just wish I built a second stone circle for myself as well, while I was at it... Oh well, summer is coming, there will be plenty of sunny days to make a mess of the backyard in. :)

Fram, the bases are 3mm thick foamed pvc. As these were salvaged shop signs, there is print on the top and bottom. I just sanded clean the bottom to make it more neat, but as the tops were going to be smothered in filler anyway, I didn't bother on them. I got a generous supply of these from a friend, but I think you can buy foamed pvc sheets fairly easily off the internet these days.
