Hell by Starlight- anyone played this?
« on: 20 May 2016, 07:14:30 AM »
I found these rules again last night . I've had them for years but never got round to using them. Anyone tried them and what do you think?

I have not. In fact I was completely unaware they existed until I read this post. I have, however, played Hell by Daylight by the same author - many, many moons ago. I can't really remember much about it. I remember liking it, but others in my gaming group at the time were less impressed. If I remember correctly you had squad leaders that could do fight, but they were much more useful at directing fire and stuff...? If you do ever have a go at them I'd love to hear how it turned out!

Sorry, a bit late to this thread. 'Hell By Starlight' was one of the few sets I never got from Mr Webster's output. And I'm still looking for a copy now. Seem to recall they were produced by Wessex Games, but don't think they are available now.

'Hell By Daylight', 'Hell on the Margin', 'Hell & Fateful Decisions' and 'Hell & Uncivil Disorder' were all great little rule-sets for specific aspects that had some clever mechanics I found intriguing. And very useful for doing a few simple map-games too.

'Hellfire' (more steered for 6mm sci-fi) was my overall favourite however. I wish all these were back in production.  :(

Edit: forgot to add the Ragnarok webpage link I had which you might find useful: http://www.sfsfw.org/a/system.php#hbs
