Steam Knight
« on: 10 May 2016, 05:17:41 PM »
Steam Knight! It's been awhile since I've posted on the VSF Board, been vacationing in Frostgrave. This Steam Knight's mount started out as a Micro Machine AT-AT. I've Steampunked several versions of these, I just love the look. The rider is a plastic GW knight. I added the Ral Partha gatling gun and the gun's mount is from my bits box. The cogs on the legs are small washers from a hardware store. The coils on the Tesla lance are ink pen springs. I also added battery boxes to the side of the mount and rivets made from press on fingernail jewelry.  The gatling is the knight's primary anti personel weapon and  the tesla lance is meant for automata or armoured vehicles ( although it's plenty effective against people ). The standing fig is a 28mm West Wind Vampire Wars Zendaran trooper.

Welcome back, you KNOW you've been missed!  :D

You know Chris Palmer, co-author of G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T., had a similar 'love affair' with the AT-AT; in that case, I had some issues with the large ears and snout to make a steam-pachyderm...  lol

All around, excellent!

Took me a second to work it out when I saw the photo. Nice conversion and painting.

Nice conversion. I'm going to have to see if I can find some of these myself. I might have some of those walker kicking around my house somewhere. And I'll have to make a trip to the Star Wars store out in Aberdeen Wa. to see if he has some of them in stock. Mount some Nile campaign camel corp figs on them or maybe some Hinterland ladies. They will be great for campaigning on Venus or Mars.  :o

This pic shows the 3 At-At I've Steampunked. HerbyF, von Lucky and GeKi thanks for the kind words on the conversion. The_Beast thanks for the welcome back. It's always nice to know one's absence has been noted. If you get a chance you might check out my thread on the Frostgrave board. I call it Frostgrave Victoriana. The figs and scenery I painted wouldn't look out of place in a game of GASLIGHT or IHMN.  http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=82117.0

Excellent work!
I think I have part or all of the large walker in the picture above in my bits box.

How old is the build on the largest?

I thought I'd seen it before, but confusion IS my life.  ;)

Well, that can't be right.

No way could I remember anything from as long ago as that...

Wait, what we're we discussing?  ;)
