any ideas as to  what they would look like?
any possible 28mm figures out there
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Whenever I hear Desert Elves, D&D's Dark Sun setting always immediately comes to mind.

It featured Elves a desert dwelling nomads, Raleigh Partha did a line of Dark Sun minis back in the day, here are a few.

As for other manufacturers I'm not sure, but a couple of head swaps on some historical minis would probably do the trick.

Or Elfquest...comic from the 70's...a major storyline in the series involves desert elves.

I would start with a range of desert humans that has a more slender sculpting style, and do headswaps with elven heads where the heads are too obviously human.

The Helldorado Saracens for instance, could be a good starting point:

Or with a different paintjob, the Otherworld drow figures might do as well.
