Talking of ECW...

As I have now invested in a couple of regiments of renegade ECW, and bearing in mind that I only paint what sort of interest is there in this period for Gamers?  (Seems to be plenty of figures available.)

And what is the preferred basing size?  (I was going for foot, individual figures on 20mm square)

Just curious.  I have bought them to paint because...I enjoy painting

I'm a beginner when it comes to ECW - but my friend Mike has been looking into starting ECW gaming at our games club for years.  He studied it a university and still is a member of the Sealed Knot.  When he heard that there were plastics on the way, he started twisting arms to "persuade" some of us to join him in collecting the period.  I'm keen to start gaming as it'll help me learn about an important historical period - and have some fun into the bargain

We're going with the Warhammer Historical ECW rules so I imagine it will be stanard GW basing sizes.

Base sizes really depend on rules used, but generally pike can be on slightly smaller bases than shot (possibly 20mm sq for pike, 25mm sq for shot) although it's not compulsory.
Pike tend to look better in a decent block (anything less than 20 figures looks like a reenactment society rather than a military unit) with 1-2 shot per pike (usually lower number of shot for Royalist units - pikes were cheaper/easier to obtain).
