Interesting/colourful Chapans?
« on: August 10, 2016, 06:35:15 PM »
I have a couple figures wearing chapans (the Empress charity not-Flashman Jr., as well as a character in a much bigger and bulkier coat).

Too often these coats are painted dully, or drably. I certainly don't mean to paint mine in bright neon tones but I'd love some good suggestions for a brighter or more traditional (and therefore far more interesting) scheme in nice patterns and colours.

Google Image search brings up plenty of results of course, but there's a good deal of modern fashion and ersastz fashion chapans mixed in there. Here's some that I liked though:

Yes, I would genuinely try to paint those!  lol

(the first one seems like it would translate best to miniature form)

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

I actually have a lot of the Prokudin-Gorsky photograph series (it's been posted so many times here and elsewhere!), but I've never seen that picture posted by Cuprum before! More great ideas!
