Dwarf statues

Hello hivemind

I am looking for some 20-25 mm dwarves with hammer or axe in a standing pose that could be used as door flanking statues.

if you can get your hand on some D&D prepaints you may find the Duergar warrior suitable. He has a hammer and the pose is very static:



Maybe cut his arm off, lower the shield a bit and reattach.

You should be able to source it via Ebay or a prepaint trader.

What about the dirt-cheap EM4 plastic dwarves? One of the three has an axe, but the one with the spear is in a great pose for a statue, and the upper part of the spear would be easily replaced with an axe-head (I'd position the axe-head just above the hand).

MOM Miniatures sells these at 20€ for 20 dwarves. Those with the weapon in a lower position could be used as statues.

It's a small spanish company, they've been active for two years and a half. I should mention that they only work with resin, there's no metal or plastic here.

I was thinking about finding some 'Isle of Lewis Chess Set' style figurines, for use as stylised Dwarf statues.

A couple of years back Neotacha and I had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Scotland (a wonderful museum), which owns 11 of the Lewis pieces.  The gift shop sold chess sets modeled on the Lewis pieces, several different price points.   But the shop also sold some individual pieces (check the shop under gifts):

Most of the original pieces are displayed at the British Museum in London.  I expect that institution also has some in its gift shop.

I notice some chess sets sell in the $60 range on Amazon, so depending on how many you want it might be preferable to buy one of the cheaper chess sets.

Those chess pieces are a real nice idea but I'm afraid it'll be way too big for what I have in mind.
