Is that a coastguard cutter approaching, or something with BIG tentacles? Looks superb, I really must get a trawler or tramp steamer of some description.

I will be including them in my pulp 1920s Canadian games http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=99375.msg1247973#msg1247973

I have a bunch of gangsters and cops on the painting table right now and I'm working on a 3-player scenario.

So did you build this perfectly-scaled trawler yourself?

I found it in a fleamarket, dusty and worn down, basically a wreck. So I gave it love, repaint and repairs, and voila! The Aurora was born.

Indeed. Very nice. A lovely ship it is. Was it a water-line model when you bought it or did you convert? ;-)

Neither. It still isn´t.

Why? Well I bought it for 20 EUR. Now I found one on an auction site going for 800 EUR (!)

Suddenly cutting it up it wasn´t as simple anymore...

Man, if you can get 800 EUR for the damn thing, that'll buy a lot of pewter, resin, and beer!

Still, nobody makes a 28mm trawler that I'm aware of and they were very common as rumrunning vessels on both coasts, so maybe waterlining it would be for the best...

I rather like the idea of rumrunners suddenly enmeshed in Cthuloid goings-on after being out on an especially dark and misty night, or just as an element in a more regular pulpy game.

I see a couple of possible solutions, Bushbaby. Either hurry up and waterline the trawler so that you won't be tempted to sell it for 800 euro, or sculpt some kind of water base to hold the ship without waterlining. The second solution might look a little odd, unless other ships and boats are also done that way, but would retain value for possible future sale. Or, as a third option, perhaps you could design your table so that the surface is supposed to be a number of feet under water. You would have to build up a higher beach and shore.
Sailors have more fun!

Gaah decisions, decisions!

Lucklily I have roughly five other projects going on, so there is no need to do anything right now. So let's just procrastinate for now!
