However, I played one game with my regular opponent and, being the beardy metagamer that he is, he totally broke the game in minutes and all fun was taken out pretty quickly, which severely dimmed my/our enthusiasm to be honest. Cry

I take it you just call me that because you lost.  ::)

But yeah, I too was expecting a fun, if light, game and was really looking forward to a good excuse to start buying some ww2 models.
The game was a let down. If your initiative is high enough, especially if you're faster too, you run rings on your opponent and there's nothing he can do about it.

thank god for no dial haha.

To each his own, but to me this is the games greatest failing. It allows tanks with another to get the best reaction to any move the opponent tries.
If you had to set your manouvre before knowing what the opponent would do, I actually think this game might be enjoyable.......

Which gives me a lightbulb moment: what if we use some x-wing dials and templates to play this game.......

Daeothar, I want to run an experiment!

All that aside: that table looks pretty sweet.

I find higher initiative doesn't help too much when you have lots of terrain. The enemy just hides and takes his time.
And darn those dirt cheap brilliant stock shermans.
Stick racing driver or slick loader in those and they are a pain

Have you painted everything you have for the game? That usually keeps me happy when there's no releases (it was one of the things (i.e. completely prepainted) that kept me out of diving into X-Wing).

Since moving shelters a further 3 times I had to leave all my paints, brushes and tools in Warrington and I'm in disgusting vile cancerous telford now...with nothing again except unpainted models and nobody. No friends. No family. God it sucks

I am sensing you are not keen on Telford...but stick it out there must be gamers there somewhere and friends you haven't met yet.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

We just played another game of  TANKS using some 1/48 scale models on a 4' x 8' table.
100 points per side with the Germans facing off with the Russians. The game took just over 1.5 hours of relaxed game-play and ended with the IS-85 and Tiger destroying each other at point blank range.
