Bugger!
I wish id thought of using these .When I was filling the green house on my Ether flyer!

There's always next time  ;)

The middle shrub is actually the crown of a taller palm (I decided to stick with shorter ones as I seem less likely to knock them over).

Platoon is a fantastic board game and I think it would translate well into a miniatures game is that what your doing?

In the end I made 80% from paper, and the rest from bits of broken aquarium plants.
But the one tip I'd proffer. If you use a hairdryer on the plants(after painting the leaves is easier, but not essential. )You can loose that stiff 'jazz hands' look you get with the aquarium plants fronds. As the heat causes the stalks/ stems to twist and bend.Because it doesn't take much heat, you don't  end up cooking any paint. It does help reduce that 2D feel you get with the plastic tank plants ,also while the plastic is soft you can encourage them to curve down. With a much better chance of getting them to stay curved.
Mark.

Interesting Mark, thanks. Weird things did happen when I used the hot glue, requiring prompt dunking in cold water to avoid wilting.  :o :)

My project does seems to be  moving in the same direction.  :D. I have a thread for it here:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=97435.15

In essence I'm aiming for  the movie Platoon with added characters from Full Metal Jacket. I did some asessment of the movie characters with the idea that the wargame would be RPG-like. I'd picked up that there was a board game while I was researching but I hadn't really looked into it until the last few days, when I'd decided I really wanted the table to reflect the movie, then had a light-bulb moment that maybe the board game had a suitable map. Well it had a map and spades more!! lol

I'd already drafted out the bulk of my rules but  it transpires that they do seem to be quite similar in purpose (though with some wargame mechanics) to those for the board game, as command is critical to optimum activation.  I haven't got the game rules but I was able to find a Spanish translation that I could translate back into English for a gist of what was intended, which was useful.

For anyone wanting to wargame the board game, earlier today I happened upon a set of rules that might do the job:
