Sola Republic figures
« on: 29 April 2017, 06:37:46 PM »
I was wondering if any companies made Italian figures for the Fascist Sola Republic?
Any scale is fine. If not, what would you recommend I use to for the fascist forces
of the Sola Republic?

Um, the Salo Republic? The RSI? Would you be happy with 1/72 soft plastic, or are you looking for some other scale/medium?

Waterloo 1815 released a set of X Mas troops who are perfect for the RSI:

Looks like you can find a set if you look around on the interweb:

You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

No expert on this but from photographic evidence on Google I'd say they continued to wear their normal Italian uniforms. So any Italian WW2 miniatures should be fine. In 28mm Empress Miniatures and Warlord Games spring to mind. The latter more or less only because of the nice Parachudisti.

In 28mm there's the range of Strategia Nova, an Italian manufacturer. I got some sets of them here.
Quality-wise they're a mixed bag with the General Staff set being pretty good.

Also Warlord Games makes a set of Paracadutisti with German weapons, which - with regular army helmets - would fit perfectly, as they're wearing the RSI-style trousers.

Generally pre-armistice Italians would work, but you really want to modernize the trousers into the baggy RSI-ones with green stuff: Should be easy enough, you just need to get rid of the puttees. Also on some miniatures you could replace the headgear with a German field cap, as the RSI adopted a very similar design.
If I were you, I'd rather be me.

You could try this mob:

http://www.strategianova.it/soldatini-e-resine/italiani-la-ii-guerra-mondiale/repubblica-sociale-italiana/x-mas

They look no worse than the average Warlord figure.

Offensive Miniatures produce some static guards in their Gran Sasso range but they are in the older uniforms with collar and puttees.

Be warned. Pier Paolo Pasolini's famous film is probably not your best uniform guide, whatever it's artistic merits. ;)
