RCW South Region 'Colored Units'
« on: November 17, 2009, 10:56:25 PM »
Came across this article earlier today while sitting in the 'reading room'.  Don't know if anybody else has seen these pics.  There's also a couple of pages of shoulder boards and sleeve patches.  I've got a translation of the captions if anyone's interested.

(Also got some colour art for uniforms of WWI Russian Military Aviators and GPU-OGPU 1922-1934)

Why take Life seriously? You'll never get out of it alive!

These articles are by Deryabin, and the information is mostly repeated in his book from AST on the White Army (which is 90% about the coloured units, despite the title). They can be bought with English translations of the text, which is a real bonus.

The shoulderboard stuff is not all in the books - well not in one place in the book - but has been posted recently in the Kornilov Artillery thread. People might be interested in it though.

There are other bits available in the original Russian too, some of which expand on the material in his book. But the language is a real barrier for most of us.

His stuff is the best source of information, and much more reliable than the Ospreys.
