The Overloon Museum and Hell's Highway
« on: 03 September 2017, 01:13:04 PM »
This year JJ's Wargames temporarily located to Liempde in the Netherlands for a summer holiday which included a visit to the great WWII collection at Overloon and a very personal tour of the road from Joe's Bridge to Eindhoven.

Overloon is such a great venue to visit. Did they still have the big red button (of course I pressed it when we went there...big kid).

Hi Sunjester, can't say I saw that, I was too busy taking in the collection which was fantastic.
As you say a great venue to visit.
Cheers

When I visited there was a big red button by the beach landing display. If you pressed it a fantastic soundtrack went off, it was like being in the middle of the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. When I pressed it it made a lot of people jump!

Ha, that sounds cool, I might have missed that. The display was very impressive, I think that the sound of bullets whipping past ones ear and the loud crump of high explosives would have made it complete.

The red button is still there. I visit Overloon every year in may when Militracks is going on there. Loads of extra German vehicles who actually are drvng around.
