Thanks for posting your pictures.  I just received my Legation Deal and will be getting the Chinese buildings over the next year.  Has your research given you information on the colors appropriate for each of the individual legation buildings and their surrounding walls and tiles?  I haven't found a source that provides great pictures of each of the legation buildings.  I did find one pretty good picture of the Japanese legation building and the Blue Moon piece is pretty accurate.  Do you know if the detail/scrolling on that building is stone color, off white or a gold color?  Also do you know why the main Russian building has no roof on the top story?  Anyway, I've enjoyed your write-ups thus far and any information you can provide me about these structures would be appreciated.  Hope you'll keep posting as your work on this moves ahead.  Richard

Richard!  Glad to hear you've joined 'The Club'.  A very cool set.  As to research on the looks of the legations, I'd say go with what feels right.  I haven't been able to find many photos that 'agree' with each other.

One area worthy of exploration is the color of roof tiles.  Don't rely on this because I'm tired and I only saw this once, but apparently tile color was part of the 'ranking' system and the legations had very low ranking color (yellow, I think?).  The Imperial Palace had a high ranking color (gold?)

One thing I'm on the look out for is a suitable 18 mm US Colt machine gun (and the Italian gun).  I'll keep you posted as I find more and feel free to return the favor.

I have at least two more orders, maybe three, to finish collecting figures and buildings from Old Glory for this period.  I say again, this combination of buildings and figures is one of the finest releases in the historical hobby.  Ever!

Forgot to reply regarding the Russian roof - no idea!   lol

Two other companies to help build your forces - OldGlory15s Boxer range offers forces for outside of Peking (as well as augmenting the legations), especially cavalry figures for the Europeans and Imperial figures for the Chinese.  And Lancashire games is the only company I know that makes figures for the Kansu Braves, I think just three poses.  And they are all compatible with Blue Moon, though the Lancashire might be a bit static (and they can add more variety to your civilian figures).  I'm pretty sure Russ with OG25 had much to do with the range from OG15.

Because of the rules here on LAF and some of the content on this site (I don't think it violates the rules but I don't want to get anyone - me included - in any trouble) I'm just posting a link to a TMP page:

However, go to the link to check out the link within the thread, some very cool photographs of the German contingent in the Boxer rebellion, the siege itself.  And feel free to help out with naming the figures in the personality pack, please.
