Does anyone have any sources about the Spanish fishing industry in the 1920s and 30s? I'm specifically looking for architecture of buildings used in the fishing industry at the time in small villages as well as typical fishing boats. I've managed to get quite a few photos of the Galician village where "Dagon" was filmed, but I'm not having alot of luck on the warehouses etc typical of the period. Pictures of hotels/taverns would also be a help.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Have they changed that much from the present day?
Where are you from?
Some of the guys on the forum are from Spain and may be better placed to help.

I'm in the UK. Fishing is alot more industrialised than it used to be so I'm not going to assume that modern buildings and boats are representative of those used 80 years ago. I hope Spanish members can help.

Hello. I´m from Galiza (or Galicia). The architecture here is very different from that of the villages of the Mediterranean. A typical village of coast is Combarro, which did not change very much in the last 100 years. You can see some photos in:

One of that seems to me to be nicer is Muros:

The village of my girlfriend  :P

If you need more photos or information of other galician villages I can look for them.  :)

I've been to Galicia a couple of times and my standing impression is that it rains, a LOT, and it seems to have affected the architecture immensely.  All buildings have sloped, slated roofs so everything will por off it, and everything else is built out of granite so it won't float away.

What i really need are photos of warehouses that would or could have been used for smoking or packing fish

As all good Lutheran Swedes I have grown up with a thorough fear of Russia, catholics and chilly cross draughts from open windows. As Galicia seemed to be infested with 'black frocks I was wary but ultimately completely charmed with the area. Spain is truly a land of many faces.
