Hollywood does Tintin

I just can't see how it could work. Never mind that Frankie Muniz does not fit the bill, or that they're never going to find a couple of twin actors that could live up to Schulze und Schultze, Thompson and Thomson or whatever they are called in French.
But the comic book pictures have a sort of composition, serenity and sparse but to-the-point detailing that (at least to me) leaves an overall impression of calm. There's no way in hell the current FTL-pan, no three seconds without a cut, CGI Hollywood shite could emulate this kind of visual impression.
Ain't gonna watch it. <pouts>

Dupond et Dupont.

You wouldn't need twins, as they are not at all related (as you can tell by their surnames). Also they look nothing like each other. One's moustache curls upwards, the other downwards.  :D

Dreamworks is not the studio to be doing this. Their stuff tries to be too edgy and cool to do Tintin any justice. They did Shrek, which tried to be both sincere and snarky at the same time and came across as hollow. They also did "Curious George," which was cute and not a bad kid movie at all, but didn't look a thing like the H.A. Rey books. That bodes ill for getting the ligne clair right.

This is already on top of the fact that 99.8337% of American has never heard of Tintin, so the studio will probably try to make him a character the American audience can relate to. That will probably do more to alienate the Francophone nations than any "freedom fries" campaign ever did.

I stand firmly by my prediction of Frankie Muniz. I can accurately recreate the thinking of a Hollywood executive by hyperventilating until I see stars and then listening to my dumber co-workers prate on about what was on "Entertainment Tonight."

Hernandez y Fernandez, eh?

I didn't know that one. I think that's my favourite regional variation. It sounds funny just to say it.

Just Francophone nations? Try all of Europe.

First the highway system, now a Tintin Musical?!? :o Ihr Belgier habt echt einen an der Waffel!*

I wonder to what tune you sing: "Blistering Barnacles" et al...

"I am the very model of a youthful Belgian journalist..."

... no, I won´t dwell on that.

*: Just joking, of course! ;)
