Here's how I did the camo.
The digi camo is basically grey, green and sand. The pixel patterns are just too small to do in this scale. If you hold a picture of a real soldier at a distance so he's 40mm tall, it looks like a mottled grey/green. So that's what I went for.
Base coat the whole figure P3 Bastion Grey. Then a GW Badab Black wash. Just slap it all over with no real thought or reason.
When the wash has dried highlight with Bastion Grey, then do a few more highlights adding Vallejo Medium Grey(987), working up to pure Medium Grey for the lightest points.
Now is the destructive bit. Using a good, but expendable small brush dab on the other camo colours. You're looking for a mottled/stippled look. After all 8 figures I'd killed a Windsor & Newton Series 7. Oops!
The sand is Vallejo Model Iraquian Sand(819) toned down with a bit of Vallejo Medium Grey(987). The green is Miniature Paint Stone Green also toned down with Vallejo Medium Grey(987).
Finally glaze with GW Devlan Mud wash. Place it in the areas of shadow and where the camo looks a bit too bright.
To be honest they were much easier than I thought they'd be. I think I'll give the rangers a go next.
