As the title says, anyone able to recommend some rules for Late C17th? There are a few things I'm looking for

It's my intention to do the Monmouth Rebellion in 15mm primarily, so rules which will work with militia and assorted pikes/farm implements and suchlike

15mm, and multibased rather than single-figure removal or suchlike.

Rules which work well enough for the smallish forces that a Monmouth Rebellion 'campaign' would result in. I'm thinking small battles and large skirmishes (large enough for units, but still only a few hundred troops per side)...

- I used to have Beneath the Lily Banners 2nd Ed, but sold them (silly me); how does War of The Three Kings compare? Do I look no further?

- I also have By Fire and Sword and largeish forces for that, but I'm after something more attuned to Western Europe.

- I have Maurice and I know they could be used for 1685, but feels very much C18th to me.

Any suggestions most welcome!

Thanks,

Rob

I have War of The Three Kings and think it's excellent for the period.  Like you I play in 15mm.

I cannot comment on BTLB as I never played it but the consensus seems to be be that it's successor was an improvement.

You might also find Field of Battle 3 of interest.

Good luck with your search.

For King and Parliament would probably work
Field of Glory: Renaissance would certainly work. Good set of rules (better then the ancients one), and I'm pretty sure there are even army lists for Monmouth rebellion if you want them

I'd go for Beneath the Lily Banner v3 "The War of the Three Kings" The rules are very good and pretty much perfect for the Rebel militia types.

Thanks, I shall probably go for War of the Three Kings then.

Although I'd be keen to get a copy of FOG:R too, but it doesn't look like it's in print any more.
