Spectre In Syria
« on: July 28, 2020, 10:20:48 PM »
Some photo's from a Spectre skirmish game today.
Basic scenario was the regular army had taken over the compound of the local mosque to use as a tank park and to generally overawe the locals. The insurgency felt bold enough to attempt an attack with the prize being to acquire some armour.
Insurgents were two groups of Militia, around a dozen a piece, plus a couple of technicals. The Syrian army was a 10 man squad classed as Militia plus a 5 man squad of Trained special forces with their own BMP and 2 Spetsnaz Elite advisers (allegedly). Once we deployed the insurgent commander decided to take the technicals and 3 men from each group as his own command, giving the insurgents 3 units.
The action commenced with the on foot insurgents approaching from the south, one via the local dump near the market and the other from the lorry park, using the citizens and buildings for cover. The boss arrived via the western road slightly later pulling in behind a truck at one of the road blocks hoping to crash through. The army were safe and snug in the compound apart from those on duty and the special forces were on stand down.
The shooting started when one of the guards spotted the insurgents near the market and opened up; gradually everyone got sucked in and civilians ran for cover. In short the insurgents near the market blew a hole in the side compound wall with an RPG and in a gun battle at the breach killed or forced a rout on the regulars and blew up a BTR60! The other foot group were slower getting through the town but did blow the gates with their RPG but were stopped by the special forces who had rather belatedly joined the action. The technicals used their big guns to take apart the upper balcony of the mosque and the soldiers on it but then abandoned them as the civvy vehicle had stalled at the road block and they couldn't get past! Adapting to circumstances they then blew a whole in the opposite compound wall and moved in virtually unopposed. At this point the regular army guys were either on the run or dead so the special forces pulled back to their BMP and left town, resounding insurgent victory.

Guys, since Syria is one if those contentious topics mentioned in the board rules, please restrict your discussion to the subject of miniatures and terrain. Please avoid real-life discussion tangents.

Nice looking game Ian.
Any truth to the rumour that the full title of the rules is, 'Spectre, shadow of the RPG' ?
