While I quite like the idea of the rules (was looking at an alternative to the somewhat clunky and poorly laid out Barons' War) I'm concerned that WI chopped so much of the original publication out to fit a previously free (but now being sold) publication that has rules omitted.  Personally I'd rather pay for a published set of rules that are printed in their entirety.

There is no need to be concerned, Wi have not “chopped out” any of the original publication. There was no original publication only an informal set of rules originally written for friends, much of which was very much a WIP. With Wi I rewrote the game to provide the core rules as a playable free game, which works very well and has been generally well received by those that have played it.
None of the essential rules have been omitted and the process of creating the game in this form led to some rule changes and the honing of some mechanisms which has helped to develop the game. When it was published it was offered free with an issue of the magazine…a great bargain for those who took advantage of it!
You can still get the game for free by taking out a Prime membership with Wi which gives you access the various expansions to Ruckus that have since been published …the campaign rules, the rules for Mounted Characters and the Dramatis Personae all of which add excitement and fun to the original core rules. Wi Prime also gives access to everything Wi have published, including all the other free rule sets, it’s incredible value and well worth taking up.
I do not know at this time what the future plans are for Ruckus, it may be that the rules get published as a book or they may get issued in the form of supplements, possibly as pdf’s, publishing is expensive with a low return and pdf’s are very low risk and low initial expenditure...it does depend to some extent on how well the game sells so we shall just have to wait and see, you may be waiting for a long time.
I have a bad case of prescient nostalgia. The future's not what it used to be.

I might take a look at the subscription for a month, or not.  Some people living in countries outside the UK will most likely not have the option of "a great bargain for those that took advantage of it""  The better bargain for me is buying finished products that contain all the rules in one publication!

Not really fair to itemise things like missing skill allocation for heroes or other errata, every rule set will have an errata.  The great bargain was obviously missing rules for mounted that have now been published in a separate supplement, each to their own, and we're all entitled to an opinion, but personally I'm not keen on the piecemeal approach to publication with players needing to reference multiple documents.

I have had a lot of requests from Ruckus players about how I make the magnetic tokens that I use in my games so I wrote a blog about it https://wilgut.blogspot.com/2024/11/base-currency.html
