Sarissa Precision Mediterranean Farm
« on: 08 October 2020, 05:57:00 PM »
I received this kit last year for my birthday, and finally finished it up recently.  It is a really nice kit, that requires only a little modification to support it.  For instance, I've run support cross bars under the floor as large sections are unsupported as it comes, but that is very easy and does not require precision work.  Some balsa or plasticard cross beams and it firms the floor right up.

To give it a bit more flavor I did add some light spackle to the walls and I have added custom wood floors for all of the rooms.  Eventually I hope to add some rugs on top as well, but that is a another day.

At any rate, I'd highly recommend the kit.  Make a few small tweaks to it, and it works out great.

What woudl really push that one over the top is actual textured tile. I think a number of manufacturers sell sheets of the stuff now.

Thanks all for the kind comments.  Sarissa does make some nice stuff, and it only need some minor embellishment to look very nice.

What woudl really push that one over the top is actual textured tile. I think a number of manufacturers sell sheets of the stuff now.

Generally I've made it using corrugated cardboard.  You can buy sheets of it at scrap booking stores.  You can mount it as a full sheet, but I prefer strips of it slightly offset to give it the illusions of rows of tiles.  Not perfect, but cheap and easy to work with.

I do want to add some throw rugs over the wood floors at some point, and wouldn't mind adding some odds and ends along walls and in corners sometime in the future.

That's lovely. Wish things like that were available in 10mm...

Do you use 10mm buildings with 10mm figures. then?
