I hear you on the "too much stuff".  GW have some nice sculpts and some good sculptors but (likely intentionally) many of their fantasy figures are way too GW'ed to be useful anywhere else.  I'm going to spend some time de-GW'ing my Skaven before converting them into normal ratmen for my dungeon crawl.

The Age of Sigmar stuff is a good example...some people post reports here and I can't even tell what the miniatures are or where on begins and one ends.  They're a flurry of banners, wings, medallions, spikes, skulls and scrolls.  In a world of 1-10 where people like to go to 11, GW seems to have gone to 43 on a lot of their figures.  A shame since it keeps me from perusing their catalogue for figures/bits.

Yes that is true especally with the scrolls. Most fun part of painting is to wetbrush/drybrush some flesh, wood, fur or other texture and see the details and shadows appear.

Ogres are always fun and these Ral Partha sculpts are really awesome . I really like the barouque details on the shield bearer ogres armour.
I painted the guys green to make them fit with my evergrowing orc army. I put in a wargames factory orc on the side for size comparison.

Here are some Orcs from Oathmarks and Wargames factory models with some light converting as well here and there. Not the best paint jobs but when you put them all togheer it looks alright to my eye.

They got red eyes I swear. I dont know why it dont show up on the pictures.
Contrast painted but since they are metal they needed a lot of touch ups.
