Marlowe to Maidenhythe Redux (Again)
« on: August 15, 2022, 10:56:31 AM »
New friend Rob came up for a couple of games of For King & Parliament, a system he was considering but hadn’t played before, so where better to start than the first two games from my Marlowe to Maidenhythe scenario pack.

All looking good for the Royalists so far!

Looks great - did Marlow and Maidenhead witness ECW battles? If so love to know more and for that matter regarding any ECW conflicts in and around the Chilterns. I know there were engagements in Stokenchurch and Alesbury.

Sorry to raise your hopes: Marlowe to Maidenhythe is a fictional scenario pack not based on anything that actually took place. Likewise, you won't find Norchester (the Siege of Norchester being my other ECW scenario pack) anywhere outside the pages of George Gently detective novel: something I discovered after the pack was published!

If it helps, all the places in Marlowe to Maidenhythe are real...and it's easy to imagine them full of pike and musket carrying troops!

Cool, we played these scenarios fairly recently - and very enjoyable they were too. We also found the small units of cavalry rather effective in the late game.

Are your figures 15mm?

Glad you enjoyed the scenarios, Fred.

Yes: all 15mm. A mix of Peter Pig and Hallmark (via Magister Militum) with a smattering of Essex thrown in to fill gaps.

Thanks - we game in 10mm, but with similarly sized unit footprints.

Looking at your pictures, I wonder if I need some more imposing hedges!
