Dismounted Philadelphia Light Horse
« on: 16 September 2022, 10:02:14 AM »
The Philadelphia Light Horse performed spectacularly during the Trenton campaign.
Besides acting as messengers the Dragoons provided scouting and spying reports for Washington.

On two occasions at Princeton, the troop was forced to dismount and cover the retreat of artillery pieces.

Since there was snow and ice on the ground at Princeton, that was how I based them.
What do you think?

Very nice, l have these painted as the 2nd Dragoons in blue coats but you are now tempting me to get another unit!

The subdued use of snow and ice - at least from the photos here - suggest the figures could be used in non-winter settings as well.

And nice paint jobs, of course.

Thanks 15's, but I think that these are Winter only troops.
I don't have any problem just using them in the Trenton Campaign.
I like my Units to be Campaign specific.

Crazy, I know!

Not so crazy, just obsessive.   ;)

I have a notion that my collection will be theater organized: northern, central, southern, and even western (smallish).  At least that was part of the original intention and why I have so many AWI figures.

Nice work! Great unit to model as it still exists as the First City Troop and is part of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Still have horses for ceremonial duties.
