Ancient Greeks in Macedonian service
« on: 13 May 2025, 03:43:01 PM »
I decided to finish of some Greek Hoplites that have been sat painted, but unfinished since the end of last year.

These guys are going to be mercenaries for my Macedonians, so I decided to repurpose some shield transfers and fit them onto the larger Greek shields.

I've done a longer write up explaining the process if you're interested in checking it out!

Great work! You just reminded me I bought 60 of your Greeks in your bulk introductory deals when they were £1 a figure. These look fantastic painted up, I must dig mine out and get started!
Very interesting how you camouflaged the gap between the transfer and edge on the larger diameter shields.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

These look great! Love the look of a phalanx all arrayed for battle, especially with the unique shields on each one.

Will be good to see them painted up when you get round to it, they look great all based up and in formation!  :D

The transfers came out particularly well in my humble opinion, especially for something that was meant to be a bit of an experiment. Matching in the colours wasn't too much of a pain in the end either  :)

Thanks Basementboy, I couldn't agree more!
