Wolves for Wolf riders?
« on: March 21, 2024, 07:40:33 AM »
So I have a bunch of these wolf riders from GW and I'm wanting to know where some excellent dynamic(ish) wolves are that would fit this style. Preferably in metal but I'm happy for any ideas really. The Nick Lund wolves don't really do it for me so I'm wanting other ideas :)

Otherworld wolves are pretty decent but they’re £18 for 4. They also do a couple of Dire Wolves if you want more impressive mounts for leaders at £12.50 a brace.

The Otherworld voucher scheme is worth using for more bang for your buck.

There is a blog called Collecting Green that reviews various alternative Wolves that might be worth a look.

Ral Partha Europe do some that I think match old citadel pretty well.

They also do a pair called Khoram Beasts, which may also be of use.

Shieldwolf miniatures do some resin dire wolves- I don’t own any so I don’t know how well the size will match up, but they might be of interest to you.

How about the Knightmare Miniatures Greenskin Wars wolves? Not sure they'll be sold separately but you could always ask Diego...

Reaper has several wolf options in their Bones USA material.  Unfortunately, most of them come with riders, so...those would be tossed.

They're "relatively" cheapish, at $8 per pair.  Maybe Oathmark plastics is your best bet...

Sticking with Northstar - maybe the plastic wolves that come with the goblin wolf riders from the Oathmark range?

https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=14646

not metal, but surely very affordable and widely available.

Warmonger (Wargames Foundry) do some - https://www.warmongerminiatures.com/collections/goblins/products/goblin-wolves

I bought a couple a few years ago and they were much larger than I was expecting.

Black Tree Designs also have some very similar looking wolves (maybe two different designs?). They do come with a goblin rider, but are still pretty cheap for metal.
