A Small(scale) Heresy
« on: October 11, 2024, 12:38:25 AM »
As a former Epic player I just had to get in on the whole Legion Imperialis craze. I bought two starter boxes and some other units when it first came out and then … kinda forgot to start working on them.. until now (finally). And I quickly realized that my eyesight isn’t really up for painting a lot at this scale so it will be a slow process.

I’ve always wanted a Nurgle army for Epic, so the choice of legion wasn’t hard, Death Guard it is. So far I’ve started painting some Terminators. I’ve gotten the base color on most of them and have almost finished a set of 3, which will be good for one base (there should be more on a base officially but screw that). I just need to find a green color that I like for the shoulder pads.

Now I just need to figure out a basing scheme to go with them. I’m using a texture paste for the bases as I don’t really like the official bases, I prefer thicker MDF bases. But I’m not sure how to paint them yet.

Wip # 1 - Terminators

Those two look great. I somehow managed to resist- but it does look fun!

Oh, yes, I can see how your eyesight is challenging you...

Thank you for the comments!

I’ve done a test base for the terminators now, the glue hasn’t dried yet but it’s looking ok so far. I’m waiting for some short tufts to cut up for the bases as well. I also got out the bunch of Dreadnoughts I built a while back.

Next up is to weather the part of debris on the base and paint the trim black and then paint the rest of them… and there’s a lot of them haha and with the upcoming release of Dark Mechanicus… the pile will grow.

That's a lot of dread...

The basing finish complements the colourscheme well  8)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Nice work!

Can I suggest at this scale it’s about painting armies, not individuals.

Looks a decent number of dreads for LI - it is a brutal game.

Oh that's absolutely true, the rest will be batch painted with greater speed (for me at least, I'm terribly slow at painting).

Haha that's very true but unfortunately I don't have anyone to play against at the moment, not that I have an opponent for LI either lol.

Finished two more bases of terminators today and got the tufts I ordered but I'm not really happy with how they look so I don't think I'll use them anymore for this project.

Had to read this a second time, as I got 'I don't think I'll use the terminators anymore .'  :o

Mostly the colors? Foliage a bit too unfaded for barren rocks?
