The worst accident - at least hobby-related -  I’ve experienced is a cut - well, several - from a craft blade. It’s sobering to hear of those less fortunate.

Many years ago when still in high school (don't know the UK equivalent) I was transporting a copy of Avalon Hill's Stalingrad board game. The two armies were in glass jars in my back jeans pockets. I slipped on ice crossing Union Square and fell on the Wermacht bottle broke, damaging my bight butt cheek. T'was a bloody mess. But didn't lose any fingers.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

That, I have to say, is not quite as amusing as my own anecdote and indeed most regrettable, particularly for your mate. What, may I ask, is MLAGB?

You were probably lucky it was the Wehrmacht you fell on, though why you chose to transport your armies in glass jars or bottles escapes me - were grip top bags not around then?

BTW the UK equivalent of high school is secondary school, though these days some such establishments describe themselves as high schools or academies, presumably in order to set themselves apart from the rest.

Fascinating. Is it still in existence? (I’m not planning to join it, merely curious). Also, is / was it focused on muskets and the like, or display equal enthusiasm for artillery?

It was a long time ago, in a galaxy far away. I was very young. Never transported counters in glass jars again.

I'm more intrigued by the size of your back jean pockets that could hold a bloody jar...

lol T'was a small jar. Not that many counters in the AH Stalingrad game. Misnamed, it was a game of the whole East Front from 1941 to May 1943. Each counter was a corps or more, as far as I recall.
